Tristan went out for a tour a few weekends ago and came back pretty excited about a line he had scoped out off of Phalanx Mountain. One week later, we got lucky with stability, weather and were able to go ski it! I am impressed Tristan could remember where it was, considering he had only seen it from the bottom.

We took our time heading out there, the snow was pretty much hard packed and it was WARM!! I think the high was something ridiculous like +5 in the alpine due to a crazy inversion.

It was also pretty busy out in the backcountry. Luckily, nobody had decided to poach our line. Or maybe they did, it was so firm that we weren't really leaving any tracks. We dropped into the chute from the top of Phalanx. It was definitely the steepest line I have ever skied in the backcountry which made up for the fact that the snow wasn't that good. Nothing like a little adrenaline to keep the day interesting!

On our ski out we took a bit of a detour to investigate a big lump of ice. It turned out to be an ice cave at the foot of a glacier so we did a bit of a photo shoot there. Like I said, we were in no hurry to be anywhere that day.

The ski down to Whistler was gorgeous as the sun sank behind black tusk. Such a fun day!
